Founded in 1906, St. Mark's School of Texas is a non-sectarian, college-preparatory, independent day school for boys in grades one through twelve. The School's charter states that it is "designed to afford its students well-rounded physical, intellectual, moral, and religious training and instruction." The School is intended to be a diverse community of teachers and students who share a love of learning and who strive for high achievement in whatever they undertake.

Position Description
The St. Mark's School of Texas seeks a dynamic educator to join our upper school history department beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. A strong candidate will be an experienced teacher with the background to teach Advanced Placement Economics, and three or more sections of History courses across a variety of levels. At St. Mark's, we emphasize writing development across the disciplines and include annual research-based writing assignments in the department; therefore, ideal candidates will be committed to helping boys learn formal research skills and master stylistic conventions expected of ethical scholarship. St. Mark's is a vibrant learning community, and successful candidates will be generative in their thinking about teaching and learning, will find joy working with adolescents, and will seek to collaborate with department members, share teaching resources and contribute to the wider school community in a myriad of ways. In addition to teaching, faculty are involved in a variety of program areas, including coaching a sport, camping with the Wilderness Program, or overseeing a student club. At St. Mark's, we are deeply committed to character and leadership education for all boys and have developed a program that spans grades one through twelve. Responsibilities
- Teaching four sections of course offerings in the History and Social Sciences Department. Courses include a range of levels as well as AP economics
- Serving as an Advisor to a small group of boys
- Contributing to the broader community by coaching a sport, participating in the Wilderness Program, or club program, depending on experiences
- Participating in the character and leadership education program
Experience/Qualifications & Skills - A Bachelor's degree is required, a Master's degree in a field of history is preferred
- Five or more years teaching experience at the high school or college level; independent school experience is a plus
- Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning
- Fluency with a variety of technology tools to advance learning
- Passion for subject matter and for working with adolescents and colleagues
