As the Field Application Scientist , you will provide expert-level application support—including customer training, troubleshooting, and technical consultation—to users of Complete Genomics’ sequencing technologies across Canada. You’ll also collaborate with internal teams to support commercial strategy and strengthen product adoption.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Coordinate and conduct customer training for Complete Genomics (CG) products and applications.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to experimental design, data processing, software operation, and sample preparation.
  • Perform preliminary on-site failure analysis and provide feedback to internal departments.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and act as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Support commercial efforts through technical presentations, seminars, and customer engagement.
  • Stay informed about current commercial strategies and competitor technologies, maintaining proficiency across all CG product lines and industry trends.
  • Work cross-functionally with Field Service Engineers, Sales, Marketing, and Product Managers to ensure successful customer outcomes.
  • Collaborate globally with FAS colleagues to share best practices and align support efforts.
  • Lead and own field-based demonstrations, technical workshops, and training content development.
  • Create visit reports and documentation following field travel.
  • Represent customer voice to R&D, Product Management, QA/QC, and Logistics teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in local and occasionally international tradeshows and conferences related to NGS.
  • Act as a core team member for Product Support by contributing to documentation such as IFUs and product inserts.
  • Mentor and coach new hires; contribute to building a culture of professionalism and excellence.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

  • Territory: Canada, primarily based in the Vancouver region.
  • Travel: More than 50% travel is expected within the assigned region. Occasional international travel for training or customer needs (e.g., China, U.S., and other Americas countries) may be required, pending regulations.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING US

  • Technical expertise in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) applications and instrumentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex workflows and systems.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders across sales, service, and product development teams.
  • Prior experience in a field-facing, customer support role is preferred.

WHAT YOUR EDUCATION LOOKS LIKE

  • Master’s degree or above in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and outstanding experience or skills will be considered.
  • Training or experience in NGS technologies preferred.

HOW WE WILL REWARD YOU

  • Salary : CAD $100,000–115,000 per year
  • Bonus : Annual performance-based bonus

  • This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
